A list of individual projects is supplied under the Item Tracking Projects heading. The list is sorted alphabetically in ascending order. Clicking on the name of an individual project will display the project properties.
To access the Projects page, click on the Item Tracking Projects link.
The Project Table contains the following columns:
Name Lists the names of all the projects in the repository. Click the project name to display the projects Item Tracking page.
Description A brief description of the project.
Active Active status of the project.
Allow External Submissions Allows external users to submit new Work Items.
Allow Public Items Allows users in Public Groups to view some Work Items.
Modify Click the modify icon to make modifications to the project.
Delete Click the delete icon to delete a project.
Add Projects
To add a Vault project, click on the Add button.
Enter a Name and Description (optional) for the project. External submissions can be allowed for the project by checking the Allow External Submissions checkbox. If you would like to enable public items, click the appropriate checkbox. Click Submit to submit the form. Project names can contain any characters except for < and >.
When a project is created it will appear on the Server Home page for any user who has read access to the project. The Admin and Developer groups are also created for that project when a project is created.
Click Cancel to return to the Projects page.
Allow External Submissions
When this option is enabled, each projects item tracking section will include an External Add page. If you provide users with the URL for the external Add Item page, users not in the Vault system can use the form add items to Vault.
Allow Public Items
To enable public items for this project, check the Enable Public Items checkbox. Checking the Enable Public Items checkbox will enable the Assign Public Groups for this Project section of the Modify Project form. Use the arrow buttons to add and remove groups from the Private and Public Access and Public Access Only lists.
Users who are members of the groups in the Public Access Only list will only have access to items marked "public" for the current project. Users who are members of Groups listed in the Private and Public Access list will have access to all items, both "private" and "public". If a user is a member of both a Public Access Only group and a Private and Public Access group, that user will only have access to "public" items.
Project security still applies to the Public and Public/Private groups. For example if a public access only group has read only access to a project, members of that group will have read only access to items marked "public". If a private and public access group has read only access to project members of that group will have read only access to all items.
If public items are not enabled for a project, all items added will be "private" and all users will have access to the all items based on the project security settings.
Modify Projects
The modify column allows Global Admins to alter the project. On the modify project page, the name and description can be changed.
Check Active to make the status of the project active. If you would like allow external submissions or enable public items for the project, check the appropriate box.
Note that all projects are added as active by default. Inactive projects do not appear in any non-admin project lists.
Public groups for this project can also be assigned from this page.
Click Cancel to return to the Projects page.
Click the Delete icon in the delete column for the selected project. Deleting a project will remove all items, categories, milestones and groups that are associated with that project. Deleting a project can not be undone.
