Abstract:

Abstract:
Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Interface to Custom DCS_Points_Retrieved table pulls data from a DCS_POINTS_RETRIEVED and stores the values in the WIMS Database. This interface works in conjunction with the Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Utility to Custom SCADA Request Table Q13645 to pull data from an older Emerson DCS system. Steps to get data:
1. Q13645 Utility inserts data request records in the DCS_POINTS_TO_PROCESS table for all variables linked to this interface
2. A client supplied program checks the DCS_POINTS_TO_PROCESS Table and using an Emerson API pulls summary values for the requested data and puts the data in the DCS_POINTS_RETRIEVED table
3. This Interface reads the data from the DCS_POINTS_RETRIEVED and places the data in the WIMS database for the specified Varids. Note: Interface retrieves the earliest STATISTIC_DT_DATE and runs the interface from that date thru the current time.

Abstract: Variable Setup for Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Interface to Custom DCS_Points_Retrieved
To configure a variable to get values from source, select System Setup, Edit/View Variables in WIMS and select the Interface tab.
Then click Interface To radio button. The drop down box next to the option is now enabled, click the drop down arrow and choose the interface name (name given when configuring the interface).
TAG: Required. The source identifier for the samples to retrieve results for this variable.
Statistic: Required. The summary (aggregate) to calculate when pulling data from the source. The Statistic Field is actually used by the Utility This is a listing of all the statistics supported by this interface.
WIMS Stat Requested Statistic_Agg Description
Average AVERAGE The time weighted average for the requested time period.
UVSET TIME_SET Time in seconds that the point was set. Result is stored in the next WIMS data slot. For example, data is requested for 1/1/2012, the value is stored for 1/2/2012.

Supported variable configurations for the Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Interface to Emerson Ovation SCADA.
To configure a variable to get values from source, select Edit/View Variables in the client and select the Interface tab.

Abstract: Source Configuration is used to specify how to connect to the EDORS Oracle database that hosts the source table (DCS_POINTS_RETRIEVED) along with other options for the interface.
From the main screen, click Configuration and select Source Configuration.
The next screen will display parameters on two tabs. The first is Database Connection, this is where you setup the connection to the database that hosts the DCS_POINTS_RETRIEVED table (i.e. the source data table):
Configuration Template - two possible templates are included in the utility; one for Oracle and one for User Defined. These will fill in the most common values for the database connection.
DBMS Type - Select the database system type from one of these:
Oracle
Microsoft SQL Server

OLE DB Provider - this will be filled in with Configuration Template and DBMS Type, and can be modified if needed. Should be set to OraOLEDB.Oracle.
Data Source - this field specifies, in loose terms, the "Database/Datasource server name" where your source database system is configured to store data. In Oracle, this is your net service name typically aliased in your tnsnames.ora file.
Database Name - For Oracle, this is the USER/Schema Owner for the DCS_POINTS_RETRIEVED table.

Abstract:
Allows you to enter equipment information.

OVERVIEW:
Equipment is any item (pumps, valves, vehicles, buildings, pipe lateral, anything) for which you want to track maintenance. Each piece of equipment needs a unique set of numbers and/or letters to identify it. The Equipment# field has a limit of 28 characters. The maximum recommended length is 20 characters. This is in order to make the calendar more readable. If you do not have an existing equipment numbering scheme use simple abbreviations. The following table shows some common abbreviations.

This Hach WIMS interface is used to pull summary values from an Emerson Ovation Process Historian and store the values in the Hach WIMS Database. It was developed using the User Defined Functions (UDF) available in Emerson Ovation Process Historian version 3.3. This interface uses the SyncReadProcessed aggregates against the ProcessedData tables in the Historian. The aggregates provide access to interval style processed data through SQL queries. The interface uses the PointsNameOnly query syntax option as it loops through each variable in Hach WIMS and processes them each individually.
In order for this interface to connect to the Ovation Process Historian, it requires the Ovation Process Historian OLE DB Provider (driver) as shown below, and connectivity (network connection) to the Emerson Ovation Process Historian.

NOTE: To see if the driver is installed, simply create a file with a .udl extension and double click on it. The Data Link Properties (shown above) will be displayed.

Abstract:
One variable MUST be linked to the Utility. This variable can be cross referenced to statistics that the utility returns.
Example:

Return Type: Required, must be set to UTILITY. This field tells the utility to return a value from the run of the utility.
Statistic: Required. The utility can return the COUNT of records written to the DCS_POINTS_TO_PROCESS. At this time, COUNT is the only statistic supported.
The Utility pushes data requests for a specified interface. See Source Configuration, Link to Interface Setting. Each statistic on the Interface tab has different rules associated with it on how the data request should be made. The following table summarizes those rules. NOTE: The utility is running at 5AM on Janurary 2nd, the last time it ran was Jan 1st at 5AM therefore it is getting data for any variables whose time periods (defined by WIMS Start Time, Stop Time, and InterfaceType) have been completed (past).

Abstract:
Using the interface browser for Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Interface to Emerson Ovation SCADA.
Browser Connection: The browser connection must be properly configured. In the Hach WIMS client:
Select System Tables -> Entire System -> Server-Side Interface Setup.
Select the Edit button for the Emerson Ovation SCADA interface.
Click on the Browser tab and enter the connection string to Emerson Ovation Historian. Make sure Browser Enabled is checked and click OK button.
In our example we used:
Provider=Ovation Process Historian OLE DB Provider;Persist Security Info=False;User ID=administrator;Data Source=10.64.1.167;Location="";Mode=ReadWrite;Extended Properties=""
You are ready to view tags from your database. Click on System Setup -> View/Edit Variables and click on the Interface tab.
