In order to configure the source connection from the interface, click Configuration and select Source Configuration.

The next screen will display parameters such as Data Source, Username, Password, Connection and Command Timeouts, and allow you to Test Connection and View Connection.

Database Connection - Configure the settings needed to connect to your database

• Configuration Template - Two (2) templates are currently defined. Choose 'User Defined' to setup a connection to your database, or select one of the templates to fill in the most common values.
• DBMS Type -select the appropriate type of your source database
• OLE DB Provider - this specifies which "database driver" the interface will use when connecting to your database and again depends on the database type:
  
• ClearSCADA OLE DB -  use ClearSCADA OLE DB driver
• ClearSCADA ODBC (with DSN) - use ClearSCADA DSN or create your own DSN using the ClearSCADA ODBC driver
  
• Data Source - this field specifies, in loose terms, the "Database/Datasource server name" where your database system is configured to store data. "Database/Datasource server name" only needs to be entered for the ClearSCADA OLE DB driver:
  
• For ClearSCADA OLE DB - is the System name from the ClearSCADA application - Configure Connection
• For ClearSCADA ODBC with DSN - this is not necessary, the Data Source is defined in the DSN (Data Source Name)
  
• Username - The username you want to use to connect to the database. This user should have permission to access the database and tables that contain data.
• Password - The password that will be used to connect to the database
• Connection Timeout in Seconds - how many seconds the program should wait when establishing a connection to the Hach WIMS database before aborting.
• Command Timeout in Seconds - specifies how many seconds the program should wait for a query to complete before aborting the operation.
  WARNING: Large values for these two settings can cause the program to not respond for a long period of time! Do NOT use 0 unless you know what you are doing - it will cause the program to wait indefinitely, and if your database server is down, the only way to cancel the operation is to forcefully quit the program.
  
• Customizations - this should be left empty unless you were told otherwise by a Hach Support Engineer.
• Quality List - A comma separated list of quality values of valid data.  Default is 192.  However, if you want values with a quality code 216 (means Good, value override) to also be included in the query set to 192,216.  This list will be used as an IN CLAUSE in the queries used to retrieve data - i.e. QUALITY IN (192,216). 
• Cross Reference Variables - you can cross reference WIMS variables using the CDBHistoric FullName or ID
• Note: The advantage to using the ID is that it never changes, as the FullName can.
• If this setting is changed, and WIMS variables have already been set up, you will need to run Gen Browser in Source Configuration, and then go into WIMS and change the SCADA Tags on the variables.
  
  
• Source date/time uses UTC - check this box if the source date and time are in UTC time (Greenwich Mean Time, GMT, etc.)
