Q12974 - INFO: Interface Introduction

The Hach WIMS Indirect Server-Side Interface to Honeywell Plantscape SCADA imports data from Honeywell's Plantscape database. This interface uses ODBC to connect to the source data. A valid Data Source Name (DSN) file must exist for this interface to connect to the source data. A DSN can be created using the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator program found in the Control Panel or Administrative Tools menu. Make sure to create a System DSN (not a User DSN).

The Interface (Q12973) uses a Collector (Q12972) that exports data from Plantscape into OPSDATAXML files that are then imported by the Interface, into Hach WIMS database. The Collector generates one of these files every hour and contains 60 data point for each tag that is being exported. The Interface summarizes the data depending on the variable setup in Hach WIMS client.

Note that Honeywell Plantscape also supports OPC Foundation Historian (OPC HDA server). The Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Interface to OPC HDA interface could be used in place of this interface.
