Q12929 - INFO: .NET Framework Requirements :: Hach WIMS Interfaces
 SYMPTOMS:

When attempting to install a collector for a Hach WIMS Indirect Interface using the MSI installation package provided by Hach, you get a message stating that "[Specific Interface] cannot be installed on systems with .NET Framework version smaller than 2.0" as shown here:

CAUSE:

The Hach WIMS Interface installers require a Microsoft .NET Framework of version 2.0 or higher.  Many systems do not get updated or do not have access to Windows Updates and therefore do not have this already installed.  This is especially common in isolated networks, such as those for SCADA systems in treatment plants, that do not have access to the Internet.

NOTE: If you are using an installation CD or DVD this requirement should be caught by the installation bootstrapper and installed prior to installing the interface.  The .NET Framework 2.0 is included on the CD or DVDs provided by Hach.

SOLUTION:

  1. Download the latest .NET Framework from Microsoft's Website (links provided below)
  2. Copy it to a CD, DVD or USB Flash Drive (if the target computer does not have Internet access)
  3. Install it on the target computer

Downloads available:

32 Bit Windows:

  • Download .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable x86 version (Microsoft.com Webpage)
  • Download .NET Framework 3.0 Redistributable x86 Redist Package  (Direct Download)
  • Download .NET Framework Version 3.5 Redistributable Package (Direct Download)
  • 64 Bit Windows:

  • Download .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable x64 version (Microsoft.com Webpage)
  • Download .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable IA64 version (Microsoft.com Webpage)
  • Download .NET Framework 3.0 Redistributable x64 Redist Package  (Direct Download)
  • NOTE: Please, coordinate with your IT Department or other such personnel before performing any installation.  This may require rebooting the target computer, which could disrupt services to other network users.
