Q12641 - HOWTO: Installing the PI OLE DB driver

The OSI PI OLEDB Provider is required to be installed in order for the WIMS Interface to read data from the PI Historian.  Rockwell Historian now utilizes a PI backend for their historian as well.  The PI OLE DB is included in the OSIsoft's PI Data Access suite of products.  This driver is licensed by OSISoft and MUST be purchased from OSIsoft, it is NOT included in the purchase of this interface.  Please check with your PI provider to see if you are licensed for this driver.

Below is an excerpt from the manual for Rockwell Historian v6 on how to perform the installation of the driver.

The following steps show the installation PI OLEDB v2.0.11.0.  Version 3.3.1.02 in the latest available version as of November 2015.  You should install the version that came with your PI System and the steps should be similar to those shown below:

In order to install the PI OLE DB driver, you will need a PI OLEDB Installation CD from OSISoft. Run the installation.

Click OK to go to the Welcom screen.

Click OK again to continue to the Installation Wizard.

Click Next to continue on to the Setup and select No, do not install PI-Buffer Server

Click Next to Setup installation of the PI OLEDB driver.

Click Next to start installing the PI OLEDB driver.
