Q12268 - INFO: Interface Introduction

The Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Interface to OPC HDA imports summarized values into Hach WIMS from a standard OPC HDA Server (see http://www.OPCFoundation.org for more information about OPC HDA).

Emerson DeltaV

This interface can be used with EMERSON Process Management, DeltaV SCADA system with an OPC HDA Server.  The interface must be installed on the OPC HDA Server PC (Remote DCOM is not supported).  You will need to have an available OPC Historical Data Access client connection which can be purchased from Emerson and is not included in the interface.  If you receive the following message when trying to connect to the DeltaV OPC HDA Server from Source Configuration it may indicate that you are not licensed:

HDASvr::Create Browse Failed!

From Emerson's Documentation:

"The DeltaV OPC History Server is available on the ProfessionalPLUS Station and the Application Station.  One OPC Historical Data Access client connection is provided free of charge.  If more that one concurrent OPC Historical Data Access client connection is required, the DeltaV OPC History Server may be purchased to provide up to 25 concurrent OPC HDA client connections on the ProfessionalPLUS Station and the Application Station.  Contact your local Emerson Process Management Sales Office for more information."

More information about Delta V Systems can be found at http://www2.EmersonProcess.com.

ICONICS TrendWorX

This Interface can be used with ICONICS, TrendWorX (which is an OPC HDA Server) with one exception: TrendWorX does not allow OPC HDA Item browsing with the WtHDAClient.dll that the Interface uses (see article 12279). Instead, the first Tag is repeated over and over if you try to browse the Tags. The Interface will still work, you just won't be able to use the Tag Browser in Hach WIMS Client. To get around this issue a new utility was created, TWX2OPSXML. This utility reads in an ICONICS TrendWorX Data Logger XML Configuration file and exports an OPSDATAXML file that can by used by the browser (see article 12281).
