GENERAL OVERVIEW OF OPERATION OF WIMS Remote

Refer to figure 1 for the following steps.

1.       Start and login to WIMS Remote and select a Facility to work with.

2.       From the utilities menu select Synchronize (Step 1 in the diagram below)

a.       If you have added a variable or made other changes in the master facility the sync will fail. In which case choose Download DB to Remote menu option under Utilities to bring over your changes (note this will erase all data in the remote facility)

3.       Repeat step 2 for each facility you need to collect data for in the field

4.       Close WIMS Remote and take your laptop to the field location to collect data (Steps 2 and 3 in the diagram below)

5.       Start and login to WIMS Remote and select the appropriate facility

a.       On the Data Manager menu item select Entry Forms for or custom entry method

b.      Enter the necessary data

6.       Repeat step 5 for each facility

7.       Return to the office (step 4 in the diagram below)

8.       Start and login to WIMS Remote and select the facility you want to sync to the master faciity

9.       Under utilities select Synchronize – WIMS Remote will then move the data you collected to the master facility for all data collected in the field
It’s important to realize that changes to the master facility (adding variables and such) should not be conducted while personnel are in the field collecting data and the system will force a DB Download before a sync can occur, thus losing their data.
