Interfaces

Interfaces allows any WIMS Platform solution to automatically import data from external data sources such as SCADA, Historians, LIMS, or Lab EDDs. Interfaces run in the background as Windows services on a scheduled basis (once every x minutes, every hour, or once/day), connect to the source data, summarize/clean the data, and writes the data to the WIMS Platform database.

Each interface can be configured to support:

Download WIMS_Interface_prerequisites.msi to install the prerequisites for the interface. This is only required if you are installing on a PC with no WIMS Component already installed.

Download SqlConsole for testing queries.

Download Office2016.dll for WIMS Client new menu system. Put in WIMS Client folder.

Do I need a Direct or Indirect interface to my SCADA or LIMS system?

Direct: When the network environment that WIMS/Rio will reside can be directly connected to the SCADA/LIMS system data source.

Indirect: When the network environment that WIMS/Rio will reside in is not directly connected; for example:

• Physically disconnected networks
• Blocked by firewall policies
• Blocked by Network permissions
• Separate domains
Note: All Indirect Interfaces will also work in a direct connection environment.

SCADA/HISTORIAN INTERFACES Connect to the SCADA/Historian data, summarize (i.e. calculate the average, min, max, total, first, last, etc...) the requested tags and store the summaries in the WIMS/Rio database. SCADA Interfaces include:
